Baby shower cakes and treats are the crowning touch on a mum-to-be’s big day. Whether you’re looking for inspiration or hope to find a local baker to make your confectionary dreams come true, you’ll find it in the list below.
1) Oh-Dorable!
“Oh” baby shower cakes are one of the biggest trends right now. As you’ll see in the example above, three different Bakers and Cakers pros have given the concept a unique take. “Oh Boy” on the left was crafted by The Cake Cuppery, whilst “Oh Baby” in the centre is by Cupcakes and Counting, who also happens to make a super cute version with elephants on it as well. On the right, we have one by Cakes by Lynzie, who also happens to makes the cutist cupcakes!

2) Twinkle Twinkle
Twinkle, twinkle baby shower cakes are also hugely popular, and it’s easy to see how the design can be adapted to suit a theme or preferred colour scheme. Check out the amazing detail on the rabbit done by Cakes by Deborah. Although it looks like it was plucked out of storybook pages, it’s handcrafted and totally edible. We’re also a big fan of Perfectionist Confectionist’s whimsical starry design and the blue ombre beauty by Cherub Couture Cakes Something like this is ideal if you plan to do a gender reveal at the party. Yes—our cakers can incorporate the reveal into your design as well. This is most often done with coloured cake or icing inside.

3) Baby Cake Pops
These babies crfted by Cakefield Avenue are so cute we could just eat them all up! Because many mums prefer handheld goodies, cake pops are a great alternative to baby shower cakes. These here are proof you don’t have to sacrifice style or design to have something that’s easy to hand out. One of the other joys of working with a local baker is customisation, so if you’re looking for specific colours, skin tones, expressions, or working with a theme, just let your caker know!

4) Get Ready
If you’re looking for something unique, this baby gear bag brimming with necessities is a fun idea. All the goods inside are edible, making it a very sweet treat indeed. Baker Boy Cakes designed this gender-neutral variety, perfect for a mum who wants the baby’s gender to be a surprise, but it can easily be done up in pink, blue, or even to match the mum’s real tote.

5) Sugar ‘n Spice Cupcakes
The top cupcakes in the picture below are handcrafted by Cakes by Lisa Ryan, this delicious mixture of designs is ideal when a little lass or perhaps even twins is on the way. Look at those adorable rosie cheeks! the bottom left cupcakes were created by Cakes by Lynzie and are of course totally edible, right down to the butterflies adorning the tiny jumpsuits. Last but by no means least are the awesome moustache cupcakes from the Cake Cuppery… but in all fairness what else would you expect what else would you expect from her at this stage? With a touch of whimsy and a dash of blue, these baby boy cupcakes will bring smiles to your group. Have the camera ready, though, because it’s almost a guarantee somebody will be trying to wear one of the moustaches!

6) A Belly Full
Cakes by Lynzie is also responsible for this classic baby shower cake. Artfully crafted to display mum’s growing baby bump, it’s a great way to commemorate the special occasion.

7) What Will It Be?
Perfect as a gender reveal baby shower cake, this adorable little tot is carefully sculpted and ready for his or her debut. Crafted by Cakes by Lynzie, this design is too sweet not to love.

8) Watercolour Wonder
Watercolour designs have become popular in recent years, but it’s rare to see it paired with such quaint sugar art. Classic Pooh Bear and his everlasting friend Piglet bring extra warmth to this piece, with a very sweet reminder of how much love already awaits the wee one. Hat’s off to Cakes Glorious Cakes for this unique and fun design.

9) Adventures Abound
Technically, Cherub Couture Cakes considers this grouping to be part of their wedding cakes collection, but we think it’s ideal for any new adventure. Check out the coordinating cake pops and cupcakes!

10) Cookies
Delightfully-detailed cookies like these work well as gifts for the guests or on a dessert table. Our friends over at MM Cookies makes these baby girl cookies as well as some ideal for baby boys as well.Wrapped up and ready to go, these pram cookies by Cove Cake Design are great for a shower or can be a fun way to let friends and family know you’re expecting an arrival.

11) Family Love
At a glance, the objects on the washing line may seem a bit odd, but there’s a bit of a story behind this cake. See, the family it was made for has four children, and each child got his or her favourite cuddly toy represented here. Kudos to Cove Cake Design for creating such a lovely display. It’s worth noting that this particular one was made for a Christening, though it could also be a wonderful way of honouring siblings during a shower as well.

12) Little Boy Blue
Whether posed in blissful slumber or playing peek-a-boo, this fun piece by Deborah’s Cakes is sure to delight everyone on your guest list.

13) Precious Cargo
Fans of Anne Geddes will love this piece by Jennifer Walsh Cake. Her artistry shines with the lifelike sleeping babe, whilst the attention to detail along the base is nothing short of elegant.

14) A Mother’s Love
The caker who made this goes by “Pearl Bakes,” but that’s quite an understatement because she’s clearly an artist. From the top of the elegant ombre rose to the tip of the Joey’s nose, this piece captures the journey into motherhood beautifully.

15) Classic and Delicious
For mums who want something a little different, a box of pastel macarons from Ladurée work well on the dessert table or can be given to guests to take home.
